Memories of Wayne Thomas
by Graham Pugh

Wayne and I had a mutual admiration for the Beatles!  As such, we became friends during our junior year at Strahahan HS.  When I would stop by to visit him I'd always take along a few Beatle records. I remember that he especially liked the recordings of "From Me To You" and "There's a Place".
After high school I lost touch with Wayne.  A year or so later, I heard he had joined the US Marine Corps.  Coincidentally, I had joined the service myself during that same period.  I remember I was home on leave one summer when I heard that Wayne had been killed in Viet Nam.
I think about him often and to this day, I still have those very same Beatle records I shared with him way back when.

To the best of my knowledge, Wayne is the only member of the Stranahan Class of ' 65 to have lost his life in the Viet Nam conflict.
